Account Creation

At Step 1:
1. We capture your “First Name” & “Last Name”. This information is used as your public name and assist other World Meritors to find you on the platform.

2. Please select the Gender Pronoun that you identify with. This information helps us understand the diversity of out community and make it more inclusive

At Step 2:

3. Enter your Date of Birth, this information is required to provide relevant opportunities and actions towards you.

4. Tell us where you are from by filling the “City & Country”. Having this information enables the platform to provide you with projects and information curated based on proximity to you.

5. Your Contact number will enable you to connect with community members on the platform. Please note that we do not share it with anyone. However, on the platform other community members have the capability to request your information. And as a member of the platform, you have the exclusive right to share or deny these requests. We have no control over this.

6. Tell us which UN Sustainable Development Goals are you passionate about? Select all that apply.

At Step 3:
7. Enter the Email you wish to access the platform with. This will be used as part of your credential to login and access the platform. It will also be the email address where you will receive notifications about activities from the platform.

8. Enter a Password to secure your account.

Please note a few things:
  •     a. The password should be alphanumeric
  •     b. The password should have at least 1 capita; letter, 1 number and 1 special character
  •     c. It should be at least 8 characters long

9. Re-enter the password to double confirm the same.
Once completed with all the 3 steps, please submit the form.

After this, you will receive an email in your inbox asking you to verify the email address. PLEASE Do not forget to verify your email or you will not be able to access the platform. This is added to prevent misuse of emails and ensure privacy as well as protection of your identity on the platform.

After completion of your Account, you will receive an mail in your registered email address titled, “Verify Email Address”.
If you can not find this in your inbox, please check your Spam folder once.
Once you have found this email, please click on the button titled “Verify Email Address”.

You will be taken to a page which acknowledges that your email is verified.
That’s it, you are all set to Sign-in now!

Existing Social Media accounts can be used for quick Signing Up and accessing the account. Below are the steps to do so:

1. Click on the Icon of the Social Media Platform you wish to use – Facebook or Google
2. Login to the Social Media Account using the credentials for your account there.
3. You will be assigned in to the platform and land on your profile section. Please proceed to add your profile information, this enables community members to get to know you better and connect with you.

To improve your experience on the platform, please do not forget to update your “Basic Information” in the “My Profile Section”. 

Accessing Account

Once you reach the Login Page, you can enter the email and password in the entry fields
Ensure you are entering the email which was used to register to the platform
Please make sure the password is correct. If you can not remember, then please reset the password by going to “Accessing Account” under the “How-to” section.

If you are unable to login into the platform and it says, “Invalid email or password”.

Please ensure that you are using the correct email. In order to do this, go to your inbox and search for “no-reply@worldmerit.org” email address.
If there are no emails from this in your inbox or spam, that means you have used some other email. Go to other email IDs that you may have and repeat the previous step.

When you find your registered email address, then try signing in with this email and the password that you last remember.
If it still says, “Invalid email or password”, then click on reset password.

Now enter the email in the box and click on “Send Verification Code”.

Go to your inbox and you may have an email subject, “Reset Password Notification”. 
Please click on “Reset Password” Button.

It will open a new Tab, where the page will ask you to enter a “New Password” and “Confirm Password”. Click on submit after adding a new password.
Now, go to the Log In Page and use the registered email address and new password to Sign-in to the platform.
See you in there!

The Social Media accounts used for Signing Up need to be used to Sign-In to the platform:

1. Click on the Icon of the Social Media Platform you wish to use – Facebook or Google
2. Login to the Social Media Account using the credentials for you account on that Social Media
3. The moment you sign-in, you will be redirected to the platform
4. If in case you are already signed in, it’ll quickly redirect you back to the platform without asking for Social Media Login credentials

Managing Account

Go to “My Profile” from any tab by clicking on the arrow next to your display picture on the top right corner of the platform.
Once you click on “My Profile”, it’ll load your personal profile page.
To update your basic information, please click on “Edit Profile”. This will pop open a quick form.

Please add information for all the relevant fields you wish to update.
Please Note: The more accurately you add this information the better it will be for us to curate your experience on the platform.

Once in the “My Profile” section, move your cursor to the “Edit” Button next to the heading of the “About you” section.

Click on Edit and this will make the content in the “About You” section editable.

 

Once you have amended the text about yourself, click on “Save”. This will automatically update the information.

Once in the “My Profile” section, move your cursor to the “Add” Button next to the heading of the “Work Experience” section.

Click on Add and this will pop-up a quick form for you to add your prior or current work experience.

Once you have added the details, click on “Save”. This will automatically add the information in chronological order.

If in case there is an issue with the Work Experience added, then click on the “x” next to the experience to remove this and add again following the steps mentioned above.

Once in the “My Profile” section, move your cursor to the “Add” Button next to the heading of the “Education” section.

Click on Add and this will pop-up a quick form for you to add your prior or current education qualification.

Once you have added the details, click on “Save”. This will automatically add the information in chronological order.

If in case there is an issue with the Education Qualification added, then click on the “x” next to the experience to remove this and add again following the steps mentioned above.

 

On the World Merit Platform, we have the capability to request people for their contact information. We do not show or share your contact information with anyone unless you allow it. In order to facilitate this sharing of contact information, we have created a smooth process on the “My Profile” section.

Follow the quick steps below to approve or deny requests received from the community members who wish to connect with you via email or phone.
On the “My Profile” page, click on the button, “# Received Requests”. The # is just the number of people who may have asked for your contact information.

A pop-up will show the name of the individuals, their message and the information (mail, contact number, or both) that they have requested to connect with you on.

Here we have allowed you the capability to “Approve” or “Deny” the request from the said individual.

If approved, the said individual will be able to see the relevant information on the “Request Sent” Button on their profiles. If denied, the said individual will see no information and will show that you denied sharing the information. Click here to see how you can view approved or denied request.

You will only be able to see the information of individuals who have approved your request to connect.

On the “My Profile” page, click on the button, “#Sent Request”. The # is just the number of people you have asked for their contact information.

A pop-up will show the name of the individuals, and their contact information (mail, contact number, or both) – if approved. Else it will show under denied requests.

We aim to create a quick and efficient way of managing and sharing information amongst the community while respecting your privacy. This information will only be visible to you and no one other. It is direct communication. We will appreciate it if you respect the sharer’s privacy and do not share the information with anyone else.

On the World Merit Platform, we have the capability to request people to join project groups and receive project communications. In order to facilitate this, we have created a smooth process on the “My Profile” section.

Follow the quick steps below to approve or deny requests received from the project leaders who wish to communicate you via a group message.

On the “My Profile” page, click on the button, “# Received Invites”. The # is just the number of invites you may have for project groups.

A pop-up will show the name of the project group that you are added in.

Here we have allowed you the capability to “Approve” or “Deny” the request from the said Group. Once approved you will receive mailers regarding the project and communication that the project leader feels relevant to the group.

Join or Start an Action

On the Platform, we have identified Actions undertaken by the community in 3 forms, namely, these are Challenges, Projects, and Events.
Let’s define each of them so it helps the members to join and participate in them.

What is a Challenge?
A call-to-action where volunteers agree to complete a specific action for a reward or recognition.

What is a Project?
An initiative with a team that is organized to achieve a specific set of goals and quantifiable outcomes.

What is an Event?
An event is any gathering, meeting or situation that facilitates the demographical majority assemblance in digital space or physical space such as group, crowd or mass.

When Signed-in to the platform, Click on “Join Action” under the “Actions” Tab.

You can scroll down to see different cards. Each card has a tag on the top right side that states which kind of action it is.

You can click on the “Join”, “Volunteer” or “Participate” buttons mentioned on the card to quickly go ahead and put your name down to engage with the said activity.

If in case you are intrigued to know more but not yet convinced, please click on “read more” to be directed to the action page.

Once on the Action page, you can go through the project information in greater detail and look at supporting documents, websites and other relevant information submitted by the Action lead.

You can click the “Join”, “Volunteer” or “Participate” button here to take part in the said action.

When Signed-in to the platform, go to “My profile”.

You can scroll down to see different cards of actions that you participating in.

You can click on the card where you are “Participant” and wish to revoke your participation.

If in case you want to sort the actions in your profile, you can do so by clicking “Joined”. This will automatically filter out the actions to only show ones where you are participating. Now you can scroll and find the action that you wish to revoke participation.

On clicking the card, you will be redirected to the said action page. All you need to do is, click on the “Volunteering”, “Joined” or “Participating” button again to revoke your access.

It may take a little while on a slow internet to change from “Volunteering” to “Volunteer”, if you do not see that happen within a few seconds, please refresh the page. You will notice your participation status has changed.

You can double-check this by going to your profile and seeing under “My Actions” that the said action is not showing there.

When Signed-in to the platform, Click on “Start Action” under the “Actions” Tab.

 

There will be a pop-up window with 3 types of Action to choose from. Please select the one you are interested to start.

To start a project, you can select that. It will pop-up the “Create Project” form. The information requested here is as follows:

1. Picture/ Image. This is an image relevant to the project you are talking about. Please note this image should be smaller than 3MB in size.

Once you add a picture, you have the capability to crop the image and upload it. On clicking, “Upload Cropped Photo” the portion where the image was used to add will show the cropped image in the form.

2. Title – this is the name of the project.

3. Project Description – it helps other community members know what your project is about. Please stick to less than 250 words. You can add supporting documents to elaborate on your project later part of the form.

4. Project Location Type- the project location can be global or local. Global projects are initiatives that are being worked on in multiple locations. Local projects are projects happening at one given location – city, and/ or country. 

If you select “Local”, it will show another option where you can add the precise location by typing in.

5. Project Led by – allows you to give credit to the individual or organization or Merit Council which may be the main lead on the project.

If you select “Individual / Organization”, then you can add the name of the said option and mention their website link or profile link.

If you select “World Merit Council”, then you get access to a further dropdown that enables you to select the relevant Council.

6. Select SDGs – Select all the SDGs that you are tackling with this project. Selecting this allows for people to see your project when they filter by SDGs.

When Signed-in to the platform, go to “My profile”.

Before you can scroll down to see different cards of actions that you participating in. Sort the actions in your profile, by clicking “Joined” or “Started”. This will automatically filter out the actions to only show ones where you are participating or have started yourself.

This enables quick sorting through Actions you are associated with on the World Merit Platform.

In order to have the donate button on your Action page, you need to keep in mind one simple step.

While submitting an Action – be it a Challenge, Project or Event; the form asks you for “Need Funding?” please select Yes and the project page will have a “Donate” button.

Visitors on your project page will be redirected to the Donorbox page and will be able to donate to your project.

Dashboard

When Signed-in to the platform and on the “Home” tab. You will notice a quick section on the left side titled, “My Connections”.

You will observe some thumbnails of the members that you follow. The “My Connections” capability is built for the community members to quickly go to the profile of the people they are following. The members which you will see here are the most active members on the platform. Clicking on their thumbnail will take you directly to their dedicated profile page.

Hope this enables you to see more of the Action happening around you and being undertaken by fellow World Meritors.

When Signed-in to the platform, there are several places from where you can bookmark news or Actions.
There are two ways to bookmark a news article:

1. When on the “Read” page of the News Section, you will observe each news card has a ribbon-like icon.

When you click on the logo, it will transform to blue.

It will also add the news under the “My Bookmarks” card for quick access.

2. When on the “Home” tab, click on  “read more”. This will redirect you to the News page.

Where you will find the same bookmark icon, clicking it transforms the bookmark icon to blue like in the first case. When you now come to  the “Home” tab, you will observe the said news article  populated in the “My Bookmark” section.

Let’s move to Bookmarking Action, there are two ways to do so:
There are two ways to bookmark an Action:

a. When on the “Home” tab

When you click on the icon, it will transform to blue.
It will also add the action under the “My Bookmarks” card for quick access

b. When on the “Join Action” page under the Action Section, you will see here each card has the same bookmark icon
When you click on the logo, it will transform to blue.
It will also add the news under the “My Bookmarks” card for quick access.

Hope this capability enables you to quickly access information and improves your experience on the Platform!

There are three ways to remove bookmarks:

  1. Click on the blue icon on the card of the said news or action, it will automatically un-check the bookmark and remove it from “My Bookmarks”.
  2. If on the Action Page or the News Page, Click on the “Bookmark” icon and it will uncheck and remove it from “My Bookmarks”.
  3. Lastly, In the “My Bookmark”, click on the “x” icon at the end of the news or project you wish to remove.

Hope this capability enables you to quickly access information and improves your experience on the Platform!

Throughout the Platform you will observe multiple filters, these enable you to narrow down the following:

1. People in the Community Tab
2. Go to the “All” section under the Community Tab, this will bring you to the landing page of the community

 

You can sort through community members by SDGs if you follow them or not, and location.

 

 1. We have already added pre- filter for the community such as “My City” & “Following”

The “My City” is a pre-filter which picks people as per your location. “Following” is a pre-filer which has people you are already Following.


2. Action in the “Join Action” section

Go to the “Join Action” section under the Actions Tab, here you will observe filters to sort based on SDGs, Action Type and Location.

 

Under the location filter, we have a pre-filter for “Global” actions, these are actions that are happening over several geographical locations. And if you select “Location”, then you can search by entering the specific location you wish to find actions for.

3. News in the “Read” section

Go to the “Read” section under the News Tab, here you will observe filters to sort based on SDGs, Time range and Location.

4. News and Actions both in the Home Tab

Go to the Home Tab, here you will observe filters to sort based on SDGs, Type (Actions, news or Everything) and Location with Global and Location Capability.

These filters have been added to ensure you can access information relevant to you interests and can navigate easier through the platform.

Growing & Sharing Action

When Signed-in to the platform, Click on “Share” under the “News” Tab.

There will be a form pop-up

1. Title – this is the main Heading 

2. Image – This is an image relevant to the Action you are talking about. Please note this image should be smaller than 3MB in size 

 

Once you add a picture, you have the capability to crop the image and upload it. On clicking, “Upload Cropped Photo” the portion where the image was used to add will show the cropped image in the form.

 

3. Select SDG- Selects all the SDGs that you are tackling with this project. Selecting this allows for people to see your project when they filter SDGs.

 

4. Content – A rich text field to capture the text content which has all your formatting needs.

a. You can perform standard Text formatting capabilities such as choosing the Heading Type, make the text Bold, Italics, Underlined or Strikethrough, Change Text Colour, highlight Text, change indents and alignment of the text.

b. You can also embed hyperlinks to redirect the reader to a relevant source or media link.

c. Lastly, you can add an image or video which gets embedded in the article so the reader can view it directly on the platform.

Once completed, click on next and this will take you to Preview the Article. This step shows how it will look when submitted. Please proofread the text here. If there are errors, you can Edit the form before submitting it.

Upon submission, the article will be sent to an Editor of the Platform who will review the news. The Editor has the authority to approve or deny the submitted article.

However, Editors barely deny an article, we have kept this check in place so that news components are not spam and stay relevant to the whole community.

Once you have read the news, you can click on “read less” to collapse the news card.

The World Merit Platform is built with community and social media integration in mind.

The World Merit Platform facilitates the Growing of Actions through 3rd party social media share capability.

Know the Community.

Go to “All” tab under the Communtiy section, and scroll through different people to find people you may know!

Click on the “Follow” button to stay tuned on their actions and news on the platform

Following people ensure we understand and provide you with relevant information on the platform.

To contact people, we have created a “Request contact” capability through which anyone can ask for the email and contact number.
Go to the Profile of the person you wish to communicate with.

Click on the “Request contact” button on the right side of their profile.

A pop up requesting you to select Email and or Contact number whichever you wish to ask the said person to share. Also, write a quick note introducing yourself and why you wish to get their contact information.

Please be respectful of the said persons privacy and do not share if they grant you access to their contact information.

Resources

Archives is located under the “Resources” section. Archives are built for the community members to share their completed and past Actions! The purpose of the archive is as follows:

1. Build the credibility of members by showcasing past actions.
2. Get to know each other by understanding the kind of Actions a member has undertaken.
3. Provide World Merit with information to showcase potential donors who can then assist you in deploying your projects.

Look forward to seeing your past Actions in the Archives section.

Support location under the “Resources” section is a quick email capability to reach the support team of the World Merit Platform.

When you click on “Support”, this will pop open a new Tab with an email overlay. Please mention in the subject the section name that you are facing a problem. As an example, “Reporting Issue in Request to Connect.”
In the main body, please describe the detail of the issue.
