Action University is a no-cost online learning hub, where World Merit members can come to build the skills and knowledge base that will move their actions forward and accelerate their impact. Action University takes a learner-centric and action-driven approach.
We currently have 30+ courses available, with 32 more in development for 2025. Courses emphasize knowledge and practical application in the areas of:
- Team & Project Development
- Career & Personal Development
- World Merit-specific initiatives and tools

Action University also gives members the chance to participate in experiential learning through internships in instructional design, storytelling, and more. Interns receive training in concepts core to the instructional design industry and then develop courses–helping Action University grow our impact and the interns grow their careers. By the end of their internship, our first cohort reported feeling more confident in their skills, better prepared for their careers, and proud of the impact they had created.
Looking ahead, in addition to growing our catalogue, we are working on:
- Enhancing our course discussion forums to foster collaboration and support among learners.
- Integrating course delivery directly into the World Merit Platform for seamless interactivity between learning, community, and action.
- Creating systems to bring more first-person perspectives from our members into the courses.
- Expanding the Affiliate program, allowing other social impact groups to utilize Action University’s resources to create courses for their members.
